Mussoorie is one of the most famous hill station in Dehradun district of North Indian state Uttarakhand. It is around 35kilometres away from Dehradun and around 290km away from Delhi. This hill station is situated at the bottom of Garhwal- Himalayan Range.
Mussoorie is situated at the average height of 1800 meters (5,906 ft). In its northeast The Himalayan snow ranges and in its southeast Doon valley and Shivalik ranges are present. The second highest point is Lal tibba at the average height of 2290 meters (7500 ft). Mussoorie is also known as The Queen of the hills & gateway to Gangotri & Yamunotri. Mussoorie is a famous hill station, most of the people come here to see the beauty and various kind of flora & fauna available at this place.

Mussoorie is the best place to capture beautiful snowy Himalayan Range’s view and enjoy, from here we can also get the view of Doon valley, Rurki, Saharanpur, Haridwar, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Bandar Punch, Shri Kanthadevi, Shri Nanda devi.

The best time to going there is between March to November. There is soo cold in Winters, many times you can see snowing & raining here. In winters the day temperature of that hill station is to be 7 degree Celsius while in night temperature is to be below to 0-degree Celsius. In monsoon time the beauty of this place is being increased.

About Demographics

According to 2011 India stats, Mussoorie had a population of 30,118. Men’s are 55% of the population and Women’s are 45%. In Mussoorie, the average literacy rate is 89%, which is higher than the national average of 75% in which male literacy is 94% and female literacy is 84%. In the whole population of Mussoorie, 9% are under 6 years of age. According to the stats of Mussoorie Nagar Palika Parishad, the female sex ratio is of 812 against the state average of 963. The child sex ratio of Mussoorie is around 918 in comparison of Uttarakhand state average of 890.

How to reach Mussoorie

Here I am describing some ways to reach Massoorie,

By air- The nearest airport of Massoorie is the Jolly grant in Dehra Doon, which is at the distance of 35 kilometre. You can easily get bus, Cab or Taxi to reach Massoorie from the airport.

By train- The nearest railway station of Mussoorie hill station is also in Dehra Doon. You can see here daily trains come from Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta.

By road-  Uttar Pradesh government run Special busses to Massoorie on daily basis , which run from Haridwar, Shimla, Delhi to Dehra Doon and again run from Dehra Doon to Massoorie. The distance between Delhi & Dehra Doon is 275 kilometre. Some persons go to Dehra Doon by their own Vehicles.

How many Tourist attractions in Mussoorie

Kempty fall- It is situated at a distance of 15 kilometer from Massoorie and a main attraction of Tourists. Kempty fall is covered by high hills at a height of 1364 metres from sea level. It’s a great experience for tourists to feel the greenery of that place and hear the sound of water come from fall.

Gun Hill-  It is the second highest place in Massoorie situated at the height of 2024 meter. Visitors can take advantage of Ropeway ride to Gun hill which also provides the amazing views of the city and  valley.

Happy valley- It is the place where Tibbati’s came first. When the Shepherd of Tibbatie’s Dalailama went to live in Dharamshala then Tibbati’s were came at Happy valley. It’s a beautiful place, you can see many kinds of stalls and coffee shops here.

Lal tibba- It is situated at the heighest point of the massorie hill station, it’s height from sea level is 2290 meter. You can see amazing views from lal tippa with the help of Japenese telescope.

Mussoorie lake- It is a 6 km long lake situated at Mussoorie-Dehradun road, announced as a picnic spot by city center. It’s a natural lake by natural fall. You can also take advantage of boat riding here.

Jwalaji temple- This temple is situated at the distance of 9 kilometres from Massoorie, which belongs from Hindu Devi Jwala Ji.

The mall- It is the main market of Massoorie hill station, which also called as Mall road. There are varity of shops from which you can purchase many kind of monuments to gift your love once.

Surkhanda devi temple- It is a Hindu temple situated at 33.9km far from Massoorie Mall road at the height of 9976 ft from sea level . This place is covered by dense forests and you can see the amazing view of Himalya’s from here.
